A New Collection Begins: Rosette Ribbons

For me, collecting new things keeps the thrill of the hunt new and fresh. Most of the time it’s an organic process and a collection begins without any real intent to do so. But on occasion, it’s premeditated. I had actually forgotten all about my plans to start collecting vintage rosette ribbons until Angela pointed out this prime example at a local flea market this past weekend.

Most of the examples I’ve looked at in the past were either in poor condition or very expensive—for just $3 this was the perfect piece to get my feet wet. Originally the idea was to collect these to fill the masses of picture frames that I keep dragging home, but even if that never happens I’m still drawn to them. They have a certain old fashioned sporting club/old money vibe. This one is a little newer than I had originally planned on going for, but the horse button embellishment sealed the deal. And so it is, another collection officially started.
