A Thursday Snag

Around here we have a surprising amount of garage sales that start each Thursday and luckily for me I have Thursdays off from work. I do my best to get my errands and appointments out of the way so I can stop by a few sales. Today with two doctor appointments on the top of my to-do list, I still squeezed in about a half dozen garage sales. At one sale, I was lucky enough to snag this four piece crewel set.

The two larger ones were priced $1.00 each and the smaller ones set me back $0.50 each. That’s $3.00 for the set! I love all the colors and I can’t image the hours spent on each one. Check out all the little details.

So I do think this deer is a little creepy with its red eyes.

A few birds made their way into these pictures.

Each landscape is so unique in each picture.

So hit some Thursday sales if you have some in your part of town.

Those are sweet! I was browsing in an antique/thrift store a couple of months ago and spotted a pair of blue/grey/green crewel florals, framed in gold-tone faux bamboo. They were lovely and would have been perfect in my powder room. They were hanging behind the counter and I asked for them to be taken down so I could see them up close. They needed to be cleaned but were otherwise in great shape. Then I looked at the price. Two fifty. NOT as in two dollars and fifty cents but as in two hundred and fifty dollars! I was too flabbergasted to ask the proprietor what he was smoking!

Wow, that is a bummer! Keep looking Nina! You will find a set at a much better price.

Ok Nina, I just read your comment and am shocked and had to chime in. $250?! Maybe he/she really loved them and wanted to display them and not have anyone purchase them. That’s what I’m going with 🙂 The thing with crewel is you almost always see a duplicate eventually like Tammy said. Drat!
