Cross Country Motor Oil Can

I surprised myself last Thursday afternoon at a garage sale when I bought this 2 quart motor oil pitcher. It’s my first and I know very little about them. I do know that they can be very collectible. I was attracted to its graphics and color. I asked the lady having the sale if she could tell me anything about it and she told me she had bought it at an auction many years ago. She had displayed it in her house with other antiques and had put a dried flower arrangement in it, which I pulled out as soon as I got it home.

Weekend Finds April 2014 5After a quick search online, I discovered it dates from the 1920’s-1940’s! The can is amazing to look at from any direction. Here are a few more pictures.

I paid $10.00 for it.

The back of the can lists 24 other Cross Country products.

It even has a Sears pledge of high quality.

I will just have to see if this kicks off the start of a new collection.
