Individual Finds: Tuesday Thrifting

Let’s just say I have a case of the Februaries. The lack of garage sales and quality tag sales is bringing me down. So today I tried out a few new thrift stores after dropping my son off at preschool for the afternoon. In two and a half hours I hit three stores, including the one hour round trip drive to get there. Two stores were duds, and one was pretty great and didn’t disappoint.

Two Tiered TrayFirst I found this adorable little two-tiered tray for only $2. Now what to put on it when I’m not having fancy dinner parties.

Scarf 1Scarf 2One thing I always check out and usually find are vintage scarves. They’re everywhere. I love the patterns and the only hassle with them is eventually digging my iron out of an unpacked box (don’t judge) and spending thirty seconds to iron them. This time I found amazing ones for around $0.75 each.

Password Original VersionAnd, while I was slowly making my way up to the counter I found the first edition of Password! I didn’t think I would find it after passing up a $25 version at an antique store. But for $1.97 it is mine.

PyrexWhile Tammy may have every pattern of Pyrex in the world, I have the Butterfly Gold pattern almost exclusively. Except now. I found this promotional casserole dish in the Spirograph pattern. How this was still remaining in the thrift store is still in question.

Stretched CanvasThe only thing I didn’t walk out with is this vintage stretched fabric piece. Part of me thought it was so weird and fun, and part of me thought it was too weird. At $0.97, I probably should have just picked it up. What do you all think?

Some great finds! And oh so cheap! I hit a couple thrift stores also and I’ve been pretty disappointed lately to see that most thrift stores in my area have decided that vintage items are trendy now so they jack up the prices. It’s real disturbing, it almost seems like they target vintage items, research them and then set them at a high price. As for the stretched fabric, I probably would have passed it up also, if I had already found all the other things prior. I try to only stick with things that really jump out at me, so I don’t become a pack rat. I love scarves also!

Thanks Susie! Vintage items are totally more trendy now, and more pricey. That thrift store I went to, a review said, “Prices things like a real thrift store.” And it was true :) Good, I’m glad I skipped the fabric and haven’t dwelled on it since. If you love scarves…wow do I have a box full!
