Lost & Found

We must all take a moment to mourn the loss of this beautiful dresser.

Finds: Dresser

You may remember my New Years’ Finds List. So close. When I went to Salvation Army on Wednesday I was so bummed at the giant SOLD sticker taunting me. I was only a few hours late in getting to this, and almost called the number on the tag of the person who purchased it. But then I thought that might be a little crazy and the employees at Salvation Army might not approve. There are restraining orders for those sorts of things. So to talk myself out of the dresser, here goes: the dresser needed a lot of work—complete refinishing of the top and it was missing the metal leg cap. And it was probably $400. It wasn’t, but let’s go with it.

Finds: ChairSo to make up for this missed opportunity, Goodwill had something awesome waiting for me the next day. Absolutely beautiful. The upholstery is in amazing condition. Granted the arms need refinishing like in this post, but it will be a fairly easy fix. This project will have to wait until spring when I can refinish outdoors, so look forward to more in-depth refinishing. I’d still trade this chair for the other dresser in a heartbeat, but at least now I have something to barter with.

    Hi Angela,

I was reading some of the posts I missed. Perfect timing upon reading this one. I just missed out on a metal rimmed table with the matching vinyl chairs :(. I’m soooo bummed about it. What’s bad is I knew about it but I put it off because I was trying to rationalize spending money on it or not. So I finally got this strong feeling that its time to buy it…it was gone, I could kick myself. Tell me you get over this regret. Trying to make up things in my head now to make me feel better about loosing out, but it’s not working….arrrr!

Your very fortunate you found that beautiful chair that made you feel better! I think for me, I can’t see anything replacing that table :(.

Hi Susie! What a bummer! Rest assured: you will get over your regret. Your post spawned a Snag discussion on the topic, and I’ll post a reply for Thursday. Stay tuned!
