Paint by Number: Waterfall Landscape

A few weeks ago my mother and I were out hunting for garage sales and pulled up to this…

garage sale

What would be your first thought after seeing this? What a mess? Too many toys? My first thought was, there has to be some treasure in this enormous garage sale to find.

Well, it was a pretty big let down, until I came across this set of paint by numbers. I was so excited to carry them off to the van for $5.00 for the set.

The first paint by number sets were sold in 1951 and had a long run of popularity. Who doesn’t wish they could be a great painter? Here was the answer to creating your own painting, with a little help. The best part of paint by numbers was that it was pretty hard to mess up.

I look at these pictures and can't believe all of the time that must have gone into each one.

I look at these pictures and see all of the time that went into each one.

I love the fall tones and the waterfall in each of these pictures. I just couldn’t be happier to have them as a set. All they needed was a little cleaning and now they are perfect.

I am still kicking myself for leaving three behind at an antique shop in Maine recently. Kicking myself, I tell you!
