Is it ever too young to get the kids involved in collecting? I think not. My oldest son started his robot collection at the age of three and WOW does he have a good eye for spotting them. Usually out of our price range, but it always makes me happy when he spots them. With my niece’s second birthday just around the corner, I’ve been enjoying looking for gifts to surprise her with. Although I do love looking for old robots for my boys, I’ve really been having fun hunting for little girl gifts.
So far, I have found this Swiss-made wall hanging music box. Manufactured by Reuge, it plays “The Happy Wanderer.” This music box has a string at the bottom that you pull to make it play. I found it for $5.00.
My favorite find for her is this red vinyl 1970s suitcase that reads, “Going to Grandma’s” on the front. I’m hoping she will love hauling this around full of clothes for herself and her dolls. In reality, she will probably have it full of dinosaurs and monster trucks. This bright suitcase set me back $6.00. Maybe this will be the start to her vintage suitcase collection.
