Private Stash: Gnome

Gnome

This little guy makes me happy every time I spy him. About a year ago, I hide a pair of little gnomes in my neighbor’s flower garden around her home. I had snagged them at the local Goodwill. A few months later a different set of gnomes showed up in my yard. They are ceramic made by HOMCO in Korea. This gnome is sitting on a stump and playing a guitar with a white rabbit by his side. My favorite place to put him is in a large old oak tree’s hollowed out hole about 6 feet off the ground. Hopefully he makes people smile when they are out on their walks and spy him peeking out at them. Now and then these little guys like to find new hiding places and after my panic that maybe they have been stolen, I find them tucked in their new spots. It’s always a fun surprise to find them. So if you find a gnome when you are out hunting at sales buy it for your favorite neighbor’s garden. You never know when they might start popping up in your yard, especially when you have the best neighbor ever! Thanks Angela!

My sister, brother, and I had a set of three that included the one in your picture in the early ’70’s. I haven’t thought about them in years. I guess I need to contact Mom and see if they are still around!

That would be amazing if all three were still together!
