Private Stash: A Grandpa’s Cardigan

Ok, I know I’m a little late for politically-themed posts, but maybe since it’s been a few days this post won’t seem so tiresome. This cardigan was found at a tag sale, and I spent probably half an hour carrying it around with me and wondering if I could pull it off.

Vintage Wool Cardigan.

Would I look like a smart, bookish person or a weird girl wearing grandpa’s clothing? The jury is still out on that one. In the end, I just couldn’t leave that sweater hanging there. The diamonds. The label with flashy gold thread. The buttons.

Cardigan Fancy Label.

The pocket. You’re still wondering how this is politically-themed? I checked out of the tag sale and was wearing it by the time we reached our vehicle and I thought to check in the pocket. What if there was $400? Hey, that happens. Instead of the winning lottery ticket I found this:

Matchbook Back.

Matchbook Front.

How cool. The matchbook dates to the 1964 presidential election, promoting Lyndon B. Johnson for president and Hubert H. Humphrey for vice-president. There’s even two matches left!
