Private Stash: A Jewelry Box to Remember

Almost a year ago my husband lost his great grandma. She was a dear, sweet lady and lived to be 95. She is survived by almost 51 descendants including children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grand children. Crazy, I know.

So we were deeply touched when her granddaughter Audra sorted through her jewelry and gave some to everyone who was interested. For awhile I kept the jewelry in the plastic bags they were received in, but I wanted something a bit more special.

Jewelry Box Overall

I found this jewelry box at a church sale for $0.50 and it was just the right size.

Jewelry Box Inside

All of her jewelry, pictures of her and her obituary fit neatly inside, so every time we open the box we can be reminded of her.

Jewelry Box Gwen Beauty SalonGreat grandma used to own a beauty shop and I just love this photo of her.

Jewelry Box NecklacesThese are a few of my favorite pieces from her collection. I know they’re not worth much monetarily, but they’re definitely worth much more in memories. Hopefully I can start jewelry boxes for each of our grandparents since this is such an easy way to keep all the small pieces together.

Angela, You have some beautiful pieces of Grandma Gwen’s jewelery. I wear my favorite piece (a locket) at least twice a week. I remember picking through pictures with you. I wish I had done something more special with mine. I will use your post as inspiration. This post is beautiful and I loved it!

Thanks Kate, you’re too sweet 🙂 Not going to lie, all the things were in a plastic baggie until I decided to write this post. Oh the pictures. I kind of feel like we needed to archive them all somehow. Wonder where they all ended up?
