Private Stash: Campfire Marshmallows

Last fall I was lucky enough to find this old tin at a garage sale. Not only did we look around in the garage but we were allowed to look though the outbuildings at the sale. I pulled this tin out of the same small greenhouse that I did this prior post on. I pulled out all sorts of items that I will someday get around to sharing, but I immediately freshened this tin up to display in my kitchen.

Campfire Marshmallows started production in 1917. This circa 1920’s tin was made by the Campfire Co. in Milwaukee, Wis. and Cambridge, Mass. It is 6″ tall and is 10″ in diameter. Campfire Marshmallows are of the “Finest Quality” and described as being great “For Baking, Topping, Eating and Toasting”. It has amazing graphics and perfectly chipped paint that adds to its vintage charm.

My family goes camping only once a year and my favorite part is always roasting the marshmallows. I remember loving it as a child and my kids now look forward to it. If only we could still buy a tin filled with 5 lbs of marshmallows. How do you like your marshmallows? I like mine toasted to a golden brown. Yummy!
