I found this striped paper suitcase at a consignment store. I had seen the suitcase before Christmas and didn’t buy it. The store consigns mostly newer items so I’m usually pretty bummed when I walk in the door. I decided to stop back in about 3 weeks later, to see if they still had it and they did! Luckily I had waited because it had just been marked down in price. I guess most of the shoppers at this store prefer newer items, so it paid off for me. I love the inside just as much.
My husband laughed when I told him I had done a smell check on it at the store. No smell at all! I have smelled some pretty stinky suitcases in my thrifting days. Who would want to air out a stinky one in their home. Not me! The suitcase is not made of expensive leather but thin wood and plywood and then covered with paper.
I’m guessing it’s from the 1930s during the depression years. This is only my second vintage suitcase and I’m feeling a need for more.
