Private Stash: Playskool Puzzles

The other day at an estate sale I happened upon a puzzle that was half-off and therefore only $3. After my son declared he is no longer going to be an astronaut and instead a farmer, this was the perfect thing to give him. Especially since he and my husband waited in the car for me while I quickly shopped. They’re the best.

Playskool Farm

This puzzle is from the 1960s. While there are several Playskool wooden puzzles, I always seem to pick up ones with this illustration style. My son was thrilled and wanted to play with it right then.

The neat thing is this puzzle’s style matches my favorite puzzle of all time.

Playskool Whale

I mean, the whale has a little captains hat! As a bonus, these puzzles are a little more challenging than the “place a cow-shaped puzzle piece into the cow spot.” Parents, you know what I’m talking about. No offense Melissa and Doug. I did a little searching on eBay and there are several more to find that have a mid-century flair, so there’s plenty left to find.

We are taking Thursday and Friday off to be with our families, relax, and put on our turkey eating pants (at least that’s what I’m doing. I can’t comment for Tammy and Austin) and the Snag Blog will return next Monday. Hope you all have a fabulous Thanksgiving!
