‘Tis Almost The Season

It seems I have nothing but Christmas finds to post about. This weekend I went to a tag sale and brought home quite the stash of holiday goodies. Believe me it could have been more but I limited myself.

I found a couple of old Santas. This one is my favorite! He has no tags or markings on him that I can find.

Such a cute face!

There were stacks of boxes I was hoping to be ornaments, but was somewhat let down to find them to be mostly lights. That was until I saw the bubble lights! Yes, bubble lights, I have loved these since I was a child and remember watching them bubble on my grandma’s tree. These boxes are pre-1953 because after this date the company changed it’s name from NOMA to NOMA Lites, Inc. The NOMA company started in 1925 and bubble-lights were first put on the market in 1947. The company was in business up until 1965.

Check out the pale purple colored fluid one. It’s my favorite.

Also found was an aluminum red and silver tree topper with the Good Housekeeping seal of approval on it.

This last box of lights is my favorite. The NOMA company sure knew how to make beautifully decorated boxes.

One side of the box has Santa going down the chimney.

Check out the copyright date of 1936!

Once I got home and took a closer look at this box I wished I would have picked up a few more of them to display. There were probably six more of this box alone. I am very happy  I got at least one of them.  I’m sure glad I now know a little more about these old lights. They will be so fun to decorate with this Christmas.

Wow! Do the bubble lights still work? I would have bought the whole lot of them, how neat! It seems (at least where I live) tag sales are getting really pricey now. But I’ve noticed they are being run by outside businesses, so that’s probably why the prices are jacked up. I went to one last weekend, they had some beautiful old Poland ornaments for $20. Seemed like a lot to me but I caved.

Thanks Susie! I have not tested the lights yet. I’m crossing my fingers:) I would love to see your Poland ornaments. How Fun!
