Weekend Finds: All Under $20

While sometimes you finish weekend garage sales with a nice little collection that seems to go together, there are other times when nothing fits together and you (and your neighbors) wonder how such a vintage menagerie ended up on your lawn. This weekend was the latter. But the one thing that does tie everything together is my wallet: only $20 in hand.

Weekend CollectionMy favorite find by far was the lamp. And while it had the front shade on it when I bought it, by the end of the day it had a much more fitting barrel shade. Note to the wise: don’t ask the first person if they want to keep their lamp shade when all you want is the lamp, and don’t ask the second person if they want to keep their ugly lamp when all you want is the shade. They weren’t too thrilled.

Floral Chair. How do you feel about this chair? Part of me is thinking it’s fun, the other part of me is thinking it’s a little out there.

Syroco KeysThese Syroco keys were too fun to pass up. They probably won’t be painted like their bird cousins, but we’ll see.

El Salvador PaintingSomething about this little wood plaque from the 1970s makes my day. I don’t know too much about it, except the seller said her friend went to El Salvador in the 70s and brought it back as a gift.

Acme BootsA close second favorite are these vintage Acme boots from the 1970s. The eagle is multi-colored thread and appeases the Lisa Frank lover that I am. This is about the closest I can get to my husband ever wearing cowboy boots, and he was tempted. I’ll have to find another size 11 gentleman to wear them.

There are a few other things that I spent my $20 on: carnival glass where I completely missed a huge chip and some random not-vintage things for my toddler. I think the $20 was worth it!

Oh! You’re right I didn’t say anything about the croquet set. It’s a pretty cool set with a wooden base; normally I’ve only seen metal ones. All the balls and mallets are in great condition too. The guy who sold it said he only used it seven times!

I love the chair! I am looking for something similar for the reading nook in our bedroom.
