Weekend Finds: Because I Needed More Lamps

This weekend was spent the way any other cool, hip thirty-something would spend it: thrifting and sanding drywall. Since temperatures hovered in the near-sixties, I got my vitamin D fix and went to tons of thrift stores. Unfortunately, the only thing I found were a couple sweet lamps at Salvation Army. They are shadeless of course.

Shadeless Lamps

My son thought the picture needed some spice and added a velociraptor.

I keep telling myself at least they have finials and I don’t have to search for those too. Apparently my lamp graveyard isn’t large enough. Which lamp do you prefer? I love the one on the right, but the one on the left could be perfect in the right situation.

One thing I did pass up was this cute little chair:

Houndstooth ChairIt was $95 and the frame was in excellent condition. What you can’t see is some nasty dried glue all over the right side of the chair. I’m not so sure I would have been able to get that off, and if reupholstery is in the equation this had better be a forever chair. I couldn’t think of a place to put it so I left without it. Although I’m having visions of curling up in it and taking a nap right now. Maybe I’d better revisit it in a few weeks.

Great lamps! I’m always curious what people pay for their finds. I’m never sure if I’m getting a good price at thrift stores anymore, especially on vintage furniture. I would have passed that chair up also, cute but expensive.
