This weekend my in-laws graciously watched Oliver while my husband and I had a date night on Saturday and a good old-fashioned work-on-the-house-till-you-drop on Sunday. We got a lot accomplished, and on Saturday I even had time to run over to our local ReStore, just to look around.
I was looking for some living room lighting, because right now all we have is wires coming out of the ceiling and a few lamps. We’ve wanted a vintage sputnik light for ages. Because they are so expensive, I thought maybe a reproduction light would work just as well. Have you seen these at Lowes? If not, check them out.
I literally ran to Lowes to get one for our living room. While they’re not quite as lovely as a vintage fixture, the price of $189 was right. When I got there, the sad news was apparent: this light is big. It’s 30″ tall, and when you have 8′ ceilings, you’ll have a toddler throw a foam football straight into it. Drat. But if your house has high ceilings and can accommodate this light, I’m super jealous.
So off to the ReStore I went, thinking I wasn’t going to find anything. Boy was I wrong. And if you’re thinking I found a sputnik light there, I wish!
This guy was only $5. The manager told me the light had been there for ages and he looked at me like I was a little crazy. It won’t go in our living room, but in our laundry room along with this gal.
How these weren’t matching lights from the same house I’m not sure, but he said it just came in. The light was only $10!
What do you all think? Meanwhile, I’m going to keep stalking the ReStore and maybe one day I will find a sputnik light to fit our 8′ ceilings.
