Weekend Finds: Mapleine and More

This weekend was a special garage-saling weekend. One: the Snag team got to enjoy the beautiful weather and semi-beautiful sales, and then my husband went with us as well. He perhaps scored the most, finding a broadcast spreader to attach on to our lawn tractor and a coffee pot that supposedly makes magical coffee. I did find a few small things to wedge in between the giant broadcast spreader to share before I could waddle out to sales no longer (two weeks of pregnancy left!).

Candle ToppersYou know when you find an old check box there’s going to be something interesting in it. I thought these were cake toppers at first, but the lady informed me they were candle holders!

Candle HoldersThese are so cute and kitchsy. My son liked the little smiling guy the best, so it may make an appearance on his fourth birthday cake.

Smith CoronaIt isn’t a garage sale season unless I find a Smith Corona. This one is in great condition and I love the green keys.

EarringsAt another sale I found all of these beautiful vintage earrings. They were the sale owner’s mother. They’re mostly from the 1940s or 1950s judging from their screw backs.

MapleineAnd the last thing I found…did anyone else ever have Mapleine? My grandfather thinks it is far superior to maple syrup, and even puts it on his ice cream. Let’s just say you don’t need to try it any time soon (sorry Grandpa!). But I couldn’t resist the little box with a half-used container of Mapleine and a vintage ice cream scoop. It’s like they were made for each other. Smelling the box takes me back to pancakes at Grandpa’s house, and that’s worth the $1 paid for it any day.
