This past weekend Angela and I hit two city-wide sales. On Friday we hit a city-wide sale in the small town I grew up in. We found many small items, but one of my favorites was not at a garage sale, but sitting out on the curb for free!
It’s an old well played-with dump truck. In fact, when I got home and looked it up I found out it was a Smith Miller, Mack Blue Diamond dump truck from 1952. How could someone see this as trash? I’m crazy over its chipped paint and rust.
This Mack truck has found its new home and is being well displayed at my dads.
The very next day at another city-wide, I snagged another cool rusty vintage toy.
Can you believe I paid $2.00 for this 1930s wind-up Hercules Ferris Wheel? I love the details like the hotdog and orangeade stands. It now has a home with the old dump truck.
So for $2.00 I have found two unique and fun toys for my father to display. The best part is you can’t just go to the stores and buy them. They are now great conversation pieces and make amazing displays.
Would you buy old rusty toys or do you want them in better condition? I just love the history and knowing that children have played like crazy with them.
