It seems like I spend the whole winter waiting for garage sale season to start but the minute it does, I find myself too busy to really go take advantage of it. This weekend was no exception. The few sales I did go to were all a bust. I didn’t walk away from the weekend totally empty handed, however, as a quick stop at a consignment shop yielded this beauty.
At a full six feet long, this dresser is as beastly as it is elegant. I enjoy that combination. The whole thing is made of beautifully book matched walnut veneer, but the detailing on the doors and the legs really make the whole piece for me.
For the myriad uses I can imagine for this piece outside of a bedroom, I might have liked it a little better if the cabinets on the ends had been empty. Still, I appreciate the storage, storage and more storage attitude of the six little drawers hiding behind the doors.
I couldn’t find a maker’s mark, but it’s a nice solid piece. And really, at the end of any weekend of thrifting or otherwise, there’s nothing wrong with finding just one nice solid piece.
